UTILITY MAPPING
Service Clearance / Service Avoidance Survey
A Utility mapping survey is where our skilled surveyors use geophysical techniques to create a representation of the subsurface utilities that exist within your site. Electromagnetic techniques (eml) , ground penetrating radar (gpr) and drain line trace equipment are used to map the utilities from surface level. Service information is collated on site and then annotated onto the provided or produced topographical survey. service type, drain sizes, drain invert levels, depths of traced utility's will all be shown in the individual layers that we have created. Our aim is to provide you with a fully detailed and comprehensible Survey.

Why is a Utility Survey Recommended?
. It will highlight utility routes and depths across your development, therefore it reduces the risk of service strikes and risk of harm to your employees or contractors.
. Can lower project costs by highlighting unforeseen service routes , thus helping you plan a more apt approach to site works and project planning.
. Allows a better understanding of services that exist within your site and possible service adoptions and service diversions required.
.Can Improve project timing.

Our Utility Mapping Surveys can be carried out to all specifications required. Safe Dig Surveys Ltd strongly promotes an educated approach to all of its works.

TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEYs
We have the capacity to carry out inhouse topographical surveys and also subcontract out topographical works to a trusted contractor who has a proven record within the industry. 2d and 3d surveys can be created using the latest robotic technology total station. The subcontractor we use is Highly Professional and meets the high standards that Safe Dig Surveys prides itself with.

DRAINAGE MAPPING
Instead of a full utility mapping survey which includes utility and drain information you can opt for a drain mapping survey. As above we trace drains on site and annotate collated information onto a supplied or produced topographical survey. Drain Invert levels, pipe sizes and type are all shown on the provided survey. Our Utility Mapping Surveyors carry out these surveys and the advantage of this is that, as a standard we will also use ground penetrating radar(gpr) to assist with the mapping of drains and further more the GPR can also be used to locate buried chambers, soakaway's and attenuation tanks.
Before any drilling, trial pitting or coring takes place during a site investigation it is recommended that the location or dig area is checked for subsurface utility's. Our surveyors will locate and identify services within theses areas and move the drill and dig locations to the position deemed the safest. It is not just a case of scanning a position with a receiver as many do. We will lift manholes, trace drains, use two geophysical location techniques (eml and gpr) to locate services within the area. Services will be sprayed on the floor and drill or dig position will be marked out. As a standard our surveyors are equipped with gpr and there is no additional cost for this.
Once the location has been moved to a suitable position we will use our gps system and record the XYZ data, This information will then be uploaded onto our XYZ spreadsheet and sent to you electronically. If XYZ information can be provided to us before we attend site , we can preload the gps and set out the dig positions for you at no extra cost.
As an edition to the above we can also transfer drill positions and xyz information onto a provided os tile or topographical survey. If this can all be done within the work day then there will be no extra charge.
With 30 years experience within the drilling industry, Russell Collins of RGI Drilling is Part owner of Safe Dig Surveys Limited and we are delighted to be able to offer his services along with our own. PLEASE SEE DRILLING SERVICES FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Our aim is to be able to take the pressure of project managers and engineers when booking the services required to carry out Site investigation works and with one call to RGI or Safe dig Surveys we can arrange the Service Clearance, Concrete Coring and Drilling Works for you.

Drain condition surveys are carried out to aid our Utility Mapping Surveys and also to provide the client with a further understanding of the drain system within your site. The benefit of drain survey is that it also pin points incoming hidden junctions which can only be found internally within the pipe itself, which is a must when proving if a drain is in use or not. Pipe sizes, material of pipes and type are all shown within the report . Drainage pipes and defects are graded and a full condition report is provided to the client. We go that one step further at Safe dig Surveys and once the drain survey is completed we then annotate all junctions, connections and grade 4 and 5's onto the finished dwg using the chainage measurement provided. The client is provided with a full drain condition report, an annotated dwg and videos can be uploaded on request.
